B.Ed


B.Ed full form is Bachelor of Elementary Education. BEd course is a 2-year professional degree program designed to equip the necessary knowledge needed to become a teacher. B.Ed course is the mandatory requirement for any individual to become a teacher at middle-class (VI-VII), secondary (IX - X), and senior secondary (XI-XII) levels.

BEd course is considered the first formal education provided to educators, though the primary objective is preparing candidates for senior secondary teaching roles. B.Ed course curriculum is based on various teaching-related topics, including human development, pedagogical knowledge, and communication skills. B.Ed courses are accredited by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE). 

 

B Ed eligibility requires one to graduate with an aggregate of 50% or more. Candidates can pursue B.Ed courses in different modes including full-time regular B.Ed, BEd distance education, part-time B.Ed, and integrated B.Ed. The duration for this varies according to the course. However, some states don't allow the distance B.Ed candidates to apply for government teaching positions.

 

B.Ed admissions happen through merit as well as entrance exams depending on the college/university. Entrance Exams are held are central level, state level, and university levels.
